Project

Intelligent Damper Control System at Newham Hospital

Project overview

The goal was to implement a damper control system to manage 128 x FSD’s across two floors and within six fire zones, with an emphasis on a tight delivery schedule.

The original plan to use 3 x EM50 electro-mechanical control panels was modified due to site logistics and strategy requirements. A centralised control panel system on each floor was devised to power the dampers and offer individual control, compatible with the pre-wired EM system and 24v actuators.

A hybrid ACP/EM control system was introduced with ADM panels on each floor, connecting to the main ACP200 that would facilitate the overarching C&E strategy and control.

Equipment Used:

  • 128 x FSD-C & FSD-TD Motorised dampers
  • 1 x ACP200 Addressable Damper Control Panel
  • 1 x ADM40-24 Damper Module Panel (Ground Floor 1)
  • 1 x ADM30-24 Damper Module Panel (Ground Floor 2)
  • 1 x ADM56-24 Damper Module Panel (First Floor)
  • 1 x ADM12-24 Damper Module Panel (Plant Room)

All equipment was delivered on schedule. Accommodations to the project were made by BSB such as; commissioning being moved to after-hours to enable air balancing requirements and several wiring changes were resolved through collaboration between BSB engineers and on-site electricians, resulting in all project goals being met.
