This Learning at Work Week, we delve into the theme of ‘Learning Power’ and celebrate how continuous learning fuels our personal and professional growth at BSB Engineering Services Ltd. (BSB). Leo’s story is a shining example of this ethos in action.
Starting in the cleaning bay, Leo’s curiosity and eagerness to learn propelled him into the world of MIG welding. Now, he excels in working with a diverse range of materials, from galvanised to 316 stainless steel. His dedication has led him to pass stringent quality checks and achieve the autonomy of a “BSB Grade 2 Welder,” a designation within our internal grading system symbolising trust and expertise.
BSB’s commitment to nurturing talent was evident as Leo received comprehensive in-house training and mentorship. Guided by experienced supervisors like Matt Kerrison and supported by a team of skilled welders, Leo has shown significant growth. “Leo has come a long way in a relatively short period of time. I am very happy with his performance and quality of work. His continued commitment made it clear we made the right decision to promote him to the next level, and I look forward to what the future brings for Leo within our production team,” says Matt Harris, Production Manager.
The robust training and support system at BSB has empowered Leo to handle daily production confidently and independently. His newfound skills have brought a profound sense of confidence, enabling him to tackle new challenges with ease and contribute meaningfully to our team’s success.
How has this support and learning affected your daily work and approach to new challenges? “It has made it a lot easier for me to get on with my daily tasks. I now know how to just come in, turn my plant on, and start the day’s production. I have had a lot of help from all the welders here at BSB, and if I ever have a question, they are always there with a solution or help in the best way possible. It has made me more confident in performing new tasks now when I am asked.”
